How Does Wi-Fi Operate?
What is WiFi exactly though? The wireless network that Wi-Fi uses to operate uses radio waves, similar to a radio or a cell phone. The communication that occurs across this wireless network can be broken down into two basic steps:
First, the computer’s wireless adapter translates data into a radio signal and transmits it through an antenna.
Second, the wireless router receives this signal and decodes it, sending the information to the Internet through an Ethernet cord and connection.
Alternatively, the process is reversible and information can be sent back across the Ethernet connection to your router, and thus to your personal computer. As it does this, the information is translated back into radio signal.
